Der Var En Gang / Stígurinn / Once on a non-existing path / Jusqu’à le Belle Bruit
Installation. Ink on paper, pigment from found stones, beeswax, window glass plate, lamp, soil, grass, grass seeds and wood block. dimensions variable. 2014.
A recorded pace through various and wild vegetation in the strive to reach a mountain peak was paraphrased to a 20 meter long drawing depicting only fractions and hints of passing matter in ink invisibly (due to the limited viewpoint on the roll), gradually changing colors over the full distance.
Selected details from the drawing materialize in physical figures made of pigments in different shades of ground stones from the mountain and beeswax. Placed under a strong low hanging lamp, the figures gradually change form and/ or collapse into new structures during the exhibition.
Soil, grass and seeds from the mountainside was build up of in layers to the shape of a double pyramid, balancing on a circular tip graduating to a square in the middle – green growth from seedlings appearing.
A performative work connected to the exhibition took place in the landscape behind the art center where a path was cut in the grass leading up the mountain – the grass gradually collected and piled up vertically on a stick at the starting point of the the new created path.
